Students from a homeschool
coopeartive found this beaver
stick and added teeth marks to it!
Our homeschool class for children and parents are designed for families to attend together, although ages 7 and above may attend on their own. Class topics follow field exercises from our Wolf Journey Earth Skills Training Course.
Students who complete a field exercise in advance of each class will receive a personal review of their work, as well as tutoring to prepare them for subsequent field exercises. Take a look at Field Exercise 1A - Exploring Potential Study Sites for an example of what would be expected, but not required, as homework between classes.
It is not required to complete field exercises between classes, and further, if you are already engaged in another course of study, you are still very welcome to attend Wolf Journey classes as well, where you can receive insight and guidance into your own course work.
Whether or not you follow the Wolf Journey curriculum at home, students are welcome to attend simply to enjoy the topics taught directly in class. Instructors Kim & Chris Chisholm look forward to meeting your family at the next class, and supplementing your homeschool curriculum with our hands-on study of nature.
Chris & Kim have years of experience working with homeschool groups, starting in 1990 when Chris taught middle school classes at Family Unity Int'l in Quito, Ecuador, then teaching music and spanish lessons as well as nature classes for homeschoolers in Bellingham, WA starting in 1995.

Afternoon class learning
navigation using
the sun.
Our afternoon and early release classes for all ages are designed to teach one of our Earth Skills Topics (below) each week. Generally, any age who is good with classroom etiquette may attend, but we usually divide groups according to experience and age (elementary, teen, adults, etc.). Parents must attend with children under 7.
All who attend may also work through field exercises from our Wolf Journey Earth Skills Training Course between classes, but it's not expected for those who are already attending school full time, as again, students can just attend to learn the topics taught directly in class. We always add extra educational material and projects whenever possible to supplement learning.
Instructors Kim & Chris Chisholm have a combined 25 year teaching experience. Chris started teaching elementary aged children while he himself was just in high school, employed as an after-school gymnastics instructor and a summer camp music instructor in Ramstein & Landstuhl, Germany. He became Washington State's youngest CD Counselor II - Youth Specialist in 1992-95, then taught Spanish at the Whatcom Hills Waldorf School from 1995-97, and was vice president of the Whatcom County Chapter - Washington State Music Teachers Association from 1997-2003 while also founding Wolf Camp during that time.
Parents are encouraged to email or call us at any time with any questions and requests for references.

Recent class making cordage
from cedar, raffia, and
fireweed fibers.
Our evening classes for adults, with focused youth welcome, are designed to give specific training to beginners as well as provide professional guidance to advanced students. If you are already engaged in another course of study such as college biology, another naturalist training program or herbal correspondence course, you are very welcome to attend Wolf Journey classes as well, where you can receive insight and guidance into your own course work.
Everyone is welcome to attend simply for the learning contained in each class, while those who complete field exercises from the Wolf Journey Earth Skills Training Course or studies from another program will share their experiences and questions at the start of each class in order to get feedback from instructors Kim & Chris Chisholm who are themselves also working through the Wolf Journey field exercises that Chris has been writing since 1998 and blogging since 2009. Take a look at Field Exercise 1A - Exploring Potential Study Sites for an example of what would be suggested, but not required, to study between classes.
Each class will also focus on the Earth Skill Topics (below) based on the season and group interest. We're sure you will enjoy Wolf Journey classes as well as receive many pearls of ecological learning and traditional skills training. We're so confident of that, that you just need just say the word, and we'll refund your first class fee, no question, if you aren't satisfied!
