DECEMBER 17, 2011 - MIMA MOUND OAK PRAIRIES: NATIVE HAZELNUTS, PINE NUTS AND THE ACORN at Wolf Haven Int'l near Olympia, WA, located on one of the last remnant "mima mound" prairies in Washington State, and we focus on their oaks. Process acorns into nutritional flour; make medicine from its revered bark; witness fire by friction using oak wood; and boil water using hot rocks in a bowl you make with oak. |

FEBRUARY 4, 2012 - WILDERNESS SURVIVAL including FIRE BY FRICTION & BURN BOWLS at Cabela's near Olympia. Build a group fire with all-natural materials, including a heat-reflecting rock wall, and each person will learn to light it with flint and steel. Build your own bow-drill kit to start fire by friction, and if you finish, make a hand-drill kit or learn to rock-boil water in burned-out cedar wood bowls. |

Test yourself with an emergency first aid scenario; collect samples of plants and minerals needed for an herbal first aid kit; receive a quick wilderness first aid training; then make salves, tinctures, glycerites, shampoos, lotions, decoctions, teas and/or other herbal remedies in a great day together. |

MARCH 31, 2012 - Edible SEAWEEDS & SHELLFISH of the Salish Sea at Deception Pass State Park - Rosario Point & Cornet Bay near Anacortes, WA. Did you know that all seaweeds at our latitute are edible, that some seaweeds are thicken our foods (including Guiness beer) and that others are the source of great medicine? Join us today as we eat "green" seaweeds raw, dry "brown" seaweeds for future electrolyte replenishment, and gather "red" seaweeds to make nori rolls for lunch. Finally, we'll learn the bivalves and other shellfish below the tidelines and make a delectible clam chowder! |
